SMPO began business in 1984 as SMPO Properties, Incorporated. Since that time SMPO has grown and diversified its core business into operating companies that focus on government leased real estate. SMPO's operating companies consist of Properties, Development, Construction, Management and Real Estate.
- Properties leads the other companies as the originator for bidding new leased facility projects as well as providing asset management for long term ownership interests.
- Development takes over projects as new leased facilities are awarded and carries forward until the construction is completed.
- Construction works with Properties during the bidding and then supports Development during the project construction and tenant occupancy of leased facilities.
- Management begins its role during the bidding phase with Properties, works with Construction during the project construction and continues to provide the tenant with services that insure a satisfied tenant during occupancy of the leased facility.
- Real Estate is SMPO's brokerage company. This division works with Properties on site identification and acquisition in the bidding process, markets SMPO's projects that are developed for sale and searches for opportunities to purchase existing leased facilities.
